How I Am Jelly came to be


It was just a normal livestream. and i was on my 10 minute break when i thought to myself. "Why dont I give myself a challenge this stream" and there was the great idea. i wanted to make a game by the end of the stream.. But 3 hours was nowhere near enough time to make a cool game so i decided right then and there that i was going to be doing a 12 hour game dev challenge stream. i spun the random word generator and got "Absorb"

I had no clue what to do with this word but i had to do something so i began brainstorming. then someone in chat said i should be a jelly that has to pick up food. and then somehow i managed to think of a game where you have to sneak out into the kitchen at night and get food without being caught by your parents.

With a nice idea and hopefully enough time i set off on my game dev journy to make I Am Jelly. v0.1.0 of the game is the official untouched challenge result. and i plan to update the game slowly into a fully fledged game sometime in the future. 

currently i am working on the games lighting trying to make it feel more night time. after that i plan on making a bunch of physics objects like pans, pots and general kitchen items that can be knocked around the kitchen.

doing all of this while fixing any bugs that pop up of course. 

What I am imagining for the game is a tycoon ish game where you have to sneak around stealing food from the kitchen buying all kinds of upgrades and then eventually be able to unclock a prestige. resetting everything and introducing the player to a completely new level. new kitchen, new theme and new items. almost like another game. but its still the game game. 

Anyway, i'm off to bed. I hope to work more on the game soon.
